We the People’s Forum: Is Forgiving Student Loan Debt a Good Idea?

Location: Online

Is President Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan a good idea?

We’ll talk with college students, graduates, and blue-collar workers who never went to college to get their perspective. And we’ll hear from people of all political perspectives.

Our first speakers include Kylie, a stay-at-home and trained EMT who is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience; and Taylor, a first-generation college graduate who now works in IT. While they come from differing political perspectives, they both have complex views about the student loan forgiveness plan.

We’ll hear what they have to say — and afterwards, it’s the people’s turn to speak.

During the open audience time, we’d love to hear from people of all political perspectives and from all walks of life–whether you went right to work after high school, or got a college degree.

We The People’s Forums are an opportunity for the people who make this country function everyday–the important people who are not politicians, or talking heads on screens, or opinion writers in the big newspapers–- to make their voices heard.

Here’s how it works:

First part: our first speakers talk about their experiences and perspectives, their concerns about their own positions, and what they see in common.

Second part: it’s Q and E time: anyone may ask a question, and anyone with direct experience on the issue is encouraged to talk about their experience.

This event is open to the general public.

About the first speakers:

Kylie: “I’m an autistic, homeschooling, stay-at-home mom of five and am currently pursuing my Bachelors degree in neuroscience. I’m a trained EMT and like to spend my free time playing online games, playing soccer, reading, and baking with my kids. I’m very passionate about creating healthy political discourse and safe spaces for sharing differing thoughts and ideas.

Taylor Johnson: “I’m a first-generation college graduate and work in IT. I’m part of the Braver Angels Southwest Ohio Alliance leadership team.”
