Body, Voice, Privilege: Whiteness and Reparations
A white body, voice, and privilege is engaging the conversation on our collective journey to reparations for Black and African Americans. What does our future look like? How do we enter into relationship with our country’s past? What is the role of white people in reconciling America’s history of white supremacy and the oppression of people who do not look like them?
In this unique gathering, we are looking back to look forward. We visit the origins of House Bill 40 on Day 31 of a white woman’s hunger strike to move this important conversation into the mainstream. We recognize similar movements, past and present, at the intersection for basic and universal human rights. We look forward to the future we know to be possible, becoming science fiction visionaries to imagine equal justice and to build dialogue around acceptance.
We invite you to take action and to join us on this journey.
