A Facilitated Conversation on Black Lives Matter
Location: In Person
One year ago, the death of George Floyd awakened a robust – yet divisive – reckoning with racial divides in the United States. This year, on June 19th, Breaking Bread will facilitate a three-part discussion for an ideologically and racially diverse group of neighbors in the Greater D.C. region. The conversation will be filmed in order to shine a light on people coming together across their disagreements to foster mutual recognition, respect, and understanding.
You will receive:

A rare “brave space,” to have an honest discussion and to voice your perspective with neighbors who disagree with you

An opportunity to meet new people and to make connections across political and racial divides

Availability:

Filming date is June 19, 2021 from 8AM-2PM ET – total of 6 hours (hearty lunch and snacks provided)

Ability to travel to Rockville, MD city center (convenient metro accessibility)

In-person (NOT virtual)

Negative COVID-19 status within five (5) days of filming date (proof of valid rapid/PCR test, vaccine)

Agreement to be filmed and recorded

Willingness to voice your perspective and to listen to others
People who feel that their views on Black Lives Matter are in the minority in their community and/or who feel underrepresented in the public conversation on this issue are especially encouraged to apply.
