America’s Public Forum: Virtue, Progress, and American Institutions Today
Steven Pinker has argued in books such as The Better Angels of Our Nature and Enlightenment Now that we are living in a peak era of human progress, one that modern society must cease to take for granted. But in A Time to Build, Yuval Levin argues that the integrity of our modern institutions is in freefall, opening up the possibility of the fast unraveling of our democratic and cultural life. Can these things be true at the same time? And if so, how can we preserve our institutions so that we do not lose the progress of modern civilization?
Join us at Braver Angels, in association with our friends at The Progress Network and The American Enterprise Institute, for this groundbreaking conversation on norms, progress, institutions, and society with two of the most thoughtful voices in the contemporary public square.
This event is free and open to all, and a recording will be available on the Braver Angels YouTube channel a few days afterwards. John Wood Jr. will serve as MC.
