Beyond “The Talk” Empowering Our Black Children for Police Encounters

In honor of Juneteenth and the National Week of Conversation, Essteem is hosting a conversation with

The fact is: most Black children have been exposed to some form of racism. We’re not raising them the way we are teaching them, and that’s where things get tricky.

Black parents need a support system when it comes to making a plan for their children when they are confronted by police officers. We are inviting allies to join us to talk about solutions to help de-escalate encounters with the police.

★Where to find resources for children and parents in an encounter with the police

★ Current information about how to prepare for various scenarios where your child or loved one could be in a police encounter

★The best way to prepare your child and yourself for a successful outcome during such an encounter

This conversation is the precursor to our July Equalithon (hackathon for equality)
