Disinformation: Erodes Trust & Threatens Democracy

National Institute for Civil Discourse

Location: Online

Today’s information landscape is the most complex in human history, and the need for news literacy has never been greater. The information ecosystem is fostering increased division and advancing misinformation which drives down trust in our elections and within our civic life. A free society cannot function without a well-informed public and a vigorous, independent free press.

How can we as civic citizens separate fact from fiction in these times?

Our speaker, Peter Adams, Senior Vice President of the News Literacy Project, will help us do just that. He will share information and tips in a clear, dynamic presentation to help us and the people in our communities become more news literate, so we can separate fact from fiction.

The News Literacy Project, is a nonpartisan national education nonprofit, that provides programs and resources for educators and the public to be smart, active consumers of news and information. and ready to be participants in a democracy.
