In 2021, events conspired to provide the democracy reform movement with a small window to pass an unprecedented package of reforms to strengthen representation, significantly reduce the power of money in our politics, and provide a robust response to growing anti-democratic sentiment. By January 2022, that effort failed when two Democrats chose the filibuster over democracy.
