How student journalists are filling gaps in local news
Location: Online
Join us for a student-led, virtual panel discussion about how young people are making a difference in the coverage of their communities and ensuring their audiences have access to relevant and high-quality journalism. Panelists include Sara Maloney, managing editor of The Eudora Times, Ashlyn Myers, reporter for TheStateHouseFile.com, and Harsidak Singh of The Arlington Amp. They will discuss how they got into journalism, why it’s important work and how it benefits audiences in their states.
The conversation will be moderated by Darragh Worland, NLP’s senior vice president and host of NLP’s Is that a fact? podcast. It also will be taped and released as a podcast. The discussion is open to everyone who has an interest in hydrating news deserts – including rural residents, journalists, educators and students.
