National Debate: Excluding Perspectives
Should we draw lines regarding the content of debates? Join Braver Angels to debate.
About this event:
Are there some ideas so extreme, so dangerous, so intolerable, that they have no place in civil debate in American life? If there are, who gets to decide where the line is? Who is in, and who is out, in any society? At what level does honest political disagreement become such dangerous dissent, and how should the difference be dealt with?
These are questions central to the idea of democracy itself, and they are central questions for the work of civil discourse and depolarization. Braver Angels has long prided itself on approaching all questions, including those at the very core of our work, in the same spirit of honesty, curiosity, and goodwill that has defined our work at its best. So, we invite you to this Braver Angels Debate on whether or not lines should be drawn and look forward to coming a little closer to the truth with you and with all.
Join Braver Angels Thurs Feb 24 @ 8 pm EST for a debate on the topic – “Resolved: To depolarize America, we must not draw lines regarding the content of debates.”
Come join us for this free national debate, in which all participants from across the ideological spectrum will have an opportunity to speak and ask their questions. Tell us what you have experienced and what you think.
Register here. After registration, you will be emailed the zoom link to attend the event. Keep an eye out!
