National Debate: Gender

Location: Online

Extracurricular youth programs– church groups, scouting programs, sports leagues, etc.– have been an integral part of the lives of millions of American children and teenagers for more than a century. For a long time, many of these organizations had separate programs for young men and young women; in the last few decades, many have integrated those programs to be gender-neutral or gender-inclusive, while some maintain separate programs.

Should nonprofit, voluntary organizations serving youth be allowed to set their own requirements for membership, allowing only youth of a certain gender to participate? Is such selection the very definition of “discrimination,” which should be prohibited by law? How should we even think about this as the modern understanding of gender and sexuality changes?

We especially encourage those who have been members of and volunteers or leaders in any youth programs to share their experiences, their convictions, and their questions!

Join Braver Angels Thurs Feb. 10 @ 8 pm EST for a debate on the topic – “Resolved: Gender segregated youth programs should be protected by law.”

Come join us for this free national debate, in which all participants from across the ideological spectrum will have an opportunity to speak and ask their questions. Tell us what you have experienced and what you think.

Register here. After registration, you will be emailed the zoom link to attend the event. Keep an eye out!
