National Debate: Homelessness

Location: Online

The homeless have many different faces: a family with children living in a car, a worker who lost his job who is living on friends’ couches or floors, a person with mental illness or drug addiction living on the streets, a man or woman living in an encampment ‘community’ with all their possessions, a teenage runaway vulnerable to exploitation and trafficking.

We see them in our cities and even our towns, panhandling, lying on sidewalks, wandering, scrounging for food, cold and shivering. We sometimes step over them and their detritus- human waste, needles, food containers, scraps of cloth,

We feel many things. Sadness, empathy, sympathy, anger, resentment, helplessness, shared humanity.

What should we do about homelessness? What might work?

Join Braver Angels Thurs Jan. 27 @ 8 pm EST for a debate on the topic – “Resolved: Address homelessness with housing first, without preconditions.”

Come join us for this free national debate, in which all participants from across the ideological spectrum will have an opportunity to speak and ask their questions. Tell us what you have experienced and what you think.

Register here. After registration, you will be emailed the zoom link to attend the event. Keep an eye out!
