Building Peace for Democracy. Strengthening Democracy for Peace.

This session will showcase “Uniting for Democracy,” a national grassroots program led by young people (i.e. Lead for America fellows who reflect the communities and the country they serve) working in underserved urban areas, rural areas, and tribal lands in partnership with host organizations and community members to strengthen our democracy. We will discuss:

The intersections of peace and democracy in the U.S.
The importance of ideological diversity – as well as open-mindedness about views different from ours –  in efforts to strengthen our democracy
Practical, non-partisan, local interventions that can strengthen our democracy 
Actions participants can take to strengthen our democracy.
