PURPLE Film Screening and Skill-Building
Location: Both
This short film from Emmy-Award-winning Transient Pictures and Resetting the Table tells the story of everyday Americans with opposing viewpoints addressing their differences head-on and discovering the concerns and humanity that lie behind each other’s positions. Filmed in a swing region with the greatest concentration of counties that flipped Obama-to-Trump in the 2016 presidential election, PURPLE models a rare conversation that uplifts and inspires even while going toward the heat of passionate political differences.
This week, Resetting the Table is providing a robust Discussion Guide, social media toolkit, and supporting materials to make it as easy as possible for people to host their own virtual screenings + discussions and to share the film with their networks. The film and guide serve as free, on-demand resources for you and your community – our only ask is for screening hosts to fill out this brief form (https://forms.gle/Xhcp8KanPzRhK5Zn7) and distribute an audience survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JNTZN8Z).
Hundreds of museums, faith communities, universities, libraries, and high schools across the country have used PURPLE as a tool to build greater empathy, skillfulness, and hope for breaking through our country’s divisions. Watch the film and download the Discussion Guide this week!
