PURPLE Film and Discussion GuideBreaking Bread
Americans are more divided than at any point since the Civil War. PURPLE, a short documentary from political mediation organization Resetting the Table (RTT) and Emmy-Award-winning Transient Pictures, tells the story of everyday Americans with opposing viewpoints addressing their differences head-on. Filmed in a swing region with the greatest concentration of counties that flipped Obama-to-Trump in the 2016 presidential election, PURPLE models a rare conversation that uplifts and inspires even while going toward the heat of passionate political differences.
Resetting the Table offers the film and an accompanying Discussion Guide as free on-demand resources, suitable for public screenings and informal watch parties alike. Hundreds of churches, libraries, classrooms, and communities across the country have used the film to build skills for communicating across political differences and to foster greater empathy and hope for breaking through our country’s divisions.
