Repairing America’s Broken Democracy

Ken Powley, Team Democracy CEO and Co-Founder, explains the serious threat posed to America’s democracy by deepening polarization, and offers “a way out” through a new initiative that will (1) create a critical new piece of common ground, (2) empower individual voters in a powerful new way, and (3) provide a greater measure of accountability in the halls of Congress. The Safe and Fair Elections Pledge, endorsed by dozens of nonprofits across the democracy landscape, is a commitment to protecting the two most important cornerstones of our democracy: elections that are both secure AND broadly inclusive; and the peaceful transfer of power, no matter who wins.
