In the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, it became clear that the arcane language and ambiguities in the Electoral Count Act could be exploited by bad actors willing to overturn the will of the people, and badly needed updating.

The Electoral Count Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act was recently introduced by Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) along with eight Republican cosponsors and six Democratic cosponsors, to update the antiquated law.
