The only cure for a failing democracy is more democracy.
This is the underlying philosophy of CITIZEN Version 2.1 — Americans must become more responsible Citizens, and they will do so once they are given more serious responsibilities. Only with the weight of this new responsibility do we mature into true Citizens of Democracy.
The way we get more responsibility is to demand a direct voice in the making of national policy. America needs a national referendum mechanism like that which has been enjoyed by the Swiss for decades. And, like Switzerland, the decisions of the voters are then binding on the government to implement. In essence, The Citizenry becomes the fourth and highest branch of the federal government.
