Meet the people behind Community Shares Of Wisconsin Inc.
Cheri Dubiel Executive Director Cheri has served as Executive Director since January, 2017. She has worked at Community Shares of Wisconsin for a combined total of 17 years, being hired first as Development Director. In addition to her work with CSW, she brings extensive experience with local advocacy movements through past leadership roles with the Dane County Rape Crisis Center, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin, and Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault. Cheri grew up on a multi-generational dairy farm in the beautiful rolling hills of Trempealeau County in the driftless region of Wisconsin. Bria Brown Big Share and Special Projects Director Bria was born and raised in the Southern U.S. between Georgia and South Carolina. After graduating from the College of William and Mary and completing a fellowship year with their Office of Community Engagement, she moved to Madison, Wisconsin and joined the team at Community Shares in 2016 as the Membership Manager. After her time at CSW, Bria started work full-time as a freelance video and creative producer. She has worked with various businesses and nonprofit organizations in Madison including CSW partners and members, Kids Forward, REAP Food Group, WI Alliance for Women’s Health, and more. Bria has remained connected with Community Shares over the years as a video producer and is back to manage the Big Share and assist with other special projects. Bria loves swimming, reading, and exploring as many new hobbies as time allows!
Susie Lawniczak Development Manager Susie joined CSW in October 2022 as a temporary employee and became the full-time Development Manager in 2023. Originally from south-central Minnesota, she holds degrees in Community Development and American Studies/Heritage Preservation from St. Cloud State University. Since moving to Wisconsin 25 years ago, Susie has lived in Wausau, Monroe, Madison, and – since 2014 – the historic village of Cooksville, where she lives with her husband and their pets. Her career spans a range of fields, including hospitality, downtown revitalization, nonprofit administration, event planning, and database management. In 2022, Susie earned her Master Gardener certification and began working seasonally at a local greenhouse. She is passionate about community building, environmental stewardship, and supporting organizations that make a meaningful impact. Tyler Logan Database Manager Tyler grew up in the mountains of Utah, and then spent 4 years in Arctic Sweden before coming to Wisconsin. A background in Ecology has built Tyler’s data management skills and informs his interest in environmental justice. Tyler hopes to leverage both to support the mission of Community Shares and its member organizations. Previously Tyler was the Operations Manager for CSW member Sustain Dane, and for the nonprofit specialty accounting firm Numbers 4 Nonprofits. Tyler’s wife introduced him to sailing when they moved to Wisconsin, and he’s been completely obsessed ever since. Tyler joined the team at CSW in July, 2022.
Gray Miller Campaign Manager Gray Miller joins Community Shares of Wisconsin as our Campaign Manager. He earned a degree from UW-Madison’s InterArts Technology program in the late 90’s and went on to work as a freelance event producer, public speaker, and performance technologist for clients throughout the U.S. In 2004 he widened his scope, traveling across North America and Europe. In 2018 he moved back to Wisconsin to be closer to his daughters and grandkids, finding work in the non-profit field as executive director of Worldbuilders from 2020-2022 and then in development for the RCC Sexual Violence Resource Center. Gray is also a board member of Social Media Breakfast Madison and is an advocate for professionals with late-diagnosed ADHD through his writing and podcast. In his spare time he does hand lettering, plays music, and enjoys being part of the Madison Bodgery maker space.
Kathleen Messinger Financial Director Kathleen went back to school and earned an Associate Degree in Accounting in 1998. She started her accounting career at the Dane County Youth Connection which merged with PICADA. She then worked at CSW member Wisconsin Family Ties before joining the CSW team in 2001, made more memorable because it was just a few days before 9/11. She is passionate about CSW’s mission and grateful that working with numbers in the back room can make a difference. Judy Young Membership and Operations Manager Hailing from the north side of Milwaukee, Judy has been all over the world, and found her way to Community Shares, where she looks forward to helping to make a positive change in our community. Prior to working at Community Shares, Judy has worked in administrative roles for an environmental service company in Milwaukee and at the Urban League of Greater Madison–she was even a truck driver at one time! In Judy’s spare time, she likes to do DIY projects, Sews and Upcycle clothes, and has two YouTube channels. Judy also dances and teaches Chicago style stepping, a form of dance originating from Chicago that incorporates dance style in a let the leader lead you formation. LinkedIn
