Democracy at Risk? Our Hopes and Fears for America

Crossing Party Lines

Location: Online

Much of what makes America unique springs from the diverse viewpoints of the hundreds of millions of individuals who call it home.

In our past, the American way of life and self-governance has been threatened from without. Today, many people worry that our country is being threatened from within and that our fellow Americans are the threat. Some fear a move toward socialism, others a move toward authoritarianism. Still others are concerned that the current social media-driven culture robs America of its greatest strength — a well-informed populace.

At this meeting, we’ll explore our fears and hopes about our country.

Do you have fears about the future of America? Please come prepared to share what you’re most concerned about, and the nature of the threats you see. Whether your biggest fear is related to political violence, the election process, erosion of rights, special interest groups, or a post-truth society, we want to hear it.

And if you don’t believe America is experiencing an existential crisis, please come to share your hope and faith in this country we love.

Join the Crossing Party Lines discussion and have a voice in our Nation’s Conversation! People of all views are welcomed, appreciated, and heard.

Please do your best to arrive at the beginning of the meeting – once we are in breakout rooms and the conversations have started, the meeting doors close to new arrivals. The breakout rooms open (and the doors close) approximately 15 minutes after the hour.
