Keynote Address by the Mayor of Houston, Texas, Sylvester Turner

JSA is pleased to announce that Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner will deliver the Fall State 2021 keynote address!
Currently serving his second term for the nation’s fourth-largest city, Mayor Turner has been recognized for his work managing a number of challenges, including budget deficits, homelessness, and natural disasters. He is a champion for the Complete Communities initiative, which aims to revitalize under-served neighborhoods through community partnerships, and he is also committed to job creation for youth, having begun the Hire Houston Youth program. Additionally, last year, Mayor Turner launched Houston’s first Climate Action Plan, which aims for carbon neutrality by 2050. Before serving as Houston’s mayor, Turner served for 27 years as the Representative for Texas House District 139.
