Trade School vs College: What’s the better path?
Location: Online
Between the ever-increasing cost of a college education and the difficulties employers are facing finding people to fill jobs in transportation, construction, and skilled trades such as electricians, welders, and plumbers, it’s time to ask whether the US is doing a good job preparing our young adults for the job market. For decades high schools have focused on getting students into college, often going so far as to drop trade-related classes from their curriculum, leaving community colleges and for-profit trade schools to pick up the slack. Is this model working? If not, what are your thoughts on what might work better, and why?
Join us as we ask these questions and more such as:
– What is the intended role of higher education?
– What form of higher education gives students the best advantages for finding a job?
– Should taxpayers help with the cost of higher education? If so, which ones and how much? (All Majors or just some? – Which ones?)
